hey all. so last thursday i went to the ER, it was great minus the whole i left my phone here and had to buy a new one since someone stole it thing...major bummer. but anyhoo. i got to scrub in on a sweet surgery, it was exploratory and there was this crazy nectrotic (aka rotten) ovary and i even got to use the cauterizer (aka thing that burns blood vessels closed). needless to say i am back to being surgery obessessed. this is a major issue. on thursday and friday we went to hospice. our little group met all these really great ppl and i of course wanted to cry half the time since old ppl make me so sad. but im glad i did it all the same
this weekend we went to drakensburg. its this crazy awesome mountain range that we got to hike up. we had a short hike the first day but a seven hour hike the second day. we stayed at this backpackers place which was nice but seriously freezing. i am talking sleep with a hot water bottle freezing...we called them our water babies:) so the night was a bit difficult but we survived and the next day was beautiful. the hike was great we got to see a waterfall and it was gorgeous! i couldnt believe how far we hiked and how amazing the views were. it felt great to be outside and active since i have been spending so much time in the hospital. my camera died but i get pictures from the girls so all is well, no worries!
this week so far we went to the orphanage and have been doing surgery. i have gotten to see some pretty brutal things in surgery...i will spare you all the details but its been really cool. and the orphanage was so fun it was so nice to escape and just play with the babies. dont worry mom i didnt bring home anyone yet haha. i guess thats all for now since i wont tell you about the cool gorey things ive seen, ill save that for my nerdy med school friends. xoxo.
